You have the analysis. The action items are harder. I used to think anarchoprimitivism was the answer. But that takes real world skills to navigate, and back in the 80's Botswana rounded up nearly all the San and put them on reservations. I don't think there's anyone left to go to learn the skills from - it probably takes a lifetime to learn them anyway. Oh well... we probably can't save the world...maybe the earth can save itself.
Thank you Elaine. I normally write about these things through the lens of dystopia and AI. This is the first time I've pointed the camera at what's already here. Having said that, reading more on this, the fact that even the "walk away from civilization" option has been closed is itself striking (I now understand your other comment about the Kalahari). But I am still hopeful though. Seeing the structure clearly has value even before we know what to do about it.
